MGM Sells Gold Strike, AC Revenue Down, KC Royals WS Odds, Real Money Candy Crush, Taj Union

MGM Resorts to Sell Gold Strike

MGM Resorts has entered into a contract to sell its Nevada Gold Strike property. It is located in Jean, about halfway between Las Vegas and the California state line. The property was built in 1987. It is the only major development in Jean. The property includes a travel center.

Gold Strike is a bit of a relic. None of its games use ticket in/ticket out technology. Most slots and video poker machines still use coins. Those that do not require a hand pay for any amount. Its table game selection is small. Its sportsbook is simply a William Hill kiosk with a few chairs and televisions.

Most guests would never know that Gold Strike is an MGM Resorts property. It uses a separate players club from MLife.

There were once two casinos in Jean, NV. Nevada Landing closed in 2007 to make way for a planned development. That never happened as the recession shelved those plans. That left Gold Strike as a lonely hotel tower in the middle of the desert.

Atlantic City Gaming Revenue Down 12.8 Percent

Atlantic City is down to just eight casinos. It started 2014 with 12 gaming properties. This may be the reason that gaming revenue dropped 12.8 percent last month over the previous year. Revel and Trump Plaza ceased operations in September. Showboat closed on the last day of August. Six of the eight resorts still open posted a gain over 2013. The big loser was Trump Taj Mahal, which posted a 22.9 drop in gaming win from the year before. Trump Taj Mahal may close in November if it cannot generate proper liquidity to keep the doors open.

Internet gaming revenue posted a smaller loss. The online gaming win was down 2.8 percent. Ultimate Gaming left the New Jersey market after it ceased its partnership with Trump Entertainment. Ultimate Gaming asserted that it had not been paid for its royalties in months, making the licensing agreement no longer viable.

Real Money Candy Crush Coming to New Jersey?

Skill-based games may be coming to Atlantic City and New Jersey regulated gaming sites. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement is considering expanding to skill games that are popular on the Internet. It would be the first state to offer such games at licensed gaming establishments.

Kansas City Royals Favored to Win World Series in Nevada

The Kansas City Royals are slight favorites to win the World Series in Nevada. Most books set the line at -115, meaning a bettor that wanted to win $100 would need to lay $115. Players backing the Giants will need to put up $105 to win $100. These are prices to win the entire World Series. Single game betting is also available.

Trump Taj Mahal Wins Union Ruling

A Delaware bankruptcy judge ruled that Trump Taj Mahal could stop making pension and healthcare payments to its union employees, according to a late Friday report at The Press of Atlantic City. The payments may cease on October 31, 2014. The union is planning to appeal the decision.
