Casino de Taoro is situated in the heart of the famous Lago Martiánez swimming complex of Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife, Spain. The casino is one of just three that can be found on the Spanish island. Just a few minutes walk to the wonderful sandy beaches and the surrounding attractions, this small – but modern – casino is certainly worth a look when on vacation here.
Tenerife North is the international airport closest to the Casino de Taoro and travelling between the two will take a little less than 30 minutes on average if you go by road. You could also go by train but this will take about an hour when you include a ten-minute walk from the station to the casino. Car rental and airport shuttle services can be found at the airport while you could also pick up a taxi.
Casino de Taoro is actually located right inside a major Tenerife tourist destination in the Lago Martiánez swimming complex but you will also find numerous other places and activities to enjoy. The Loro Parque Zoo, Botanical Garden and the Sitio Litre Garden are just some of the nearby attractions that you could visit.
Although the dress code at the Casino de Taoro is fairly relaxed, you will still be expected to dress properly. Ties and jackets are not required but you will not be able to enter wearing beachwear. Smart casual is the way to go here. Younger players should also bring official identification as gambling in all casinos in Spain can only be done by those over the age of 18.
The casino floor at the Casino de Taoro is pretty small and for that reason, you will only see 2 table games on offer. Those games are double zero American Roulette and blackjack. The Casino de Taoro is split into two rooms, one that contains the slot machines and another that has the tables games and the poker tables.
Poker is popular here just like it is throughout the rest of Spain and you will be able to play in tournaments and sit & go’s on the weekends as well as cash games. Open every day from 11 AM until 4 AM, this casino has a very modern feel to it and the décor gives off a luxurious vibe that should appeal to players.
This casino primarily has tourists as its main target audience but you will see plenty of locals in here as well. Tenerife is one of Europe’s biggest tourist destinations so tourists will make up a large portion of the players at Casino de Taoro. They will also be responsible for the fun and lively atmosphere that is the norm in this casino.
As we previously mentioned, blackjack and American Roulette are the only table games you will find at Casino de Taoro (apart from poker). The minimum bet for blackjack is €2.50 while at the roulette tables it is €1. These are low limits but perfectly suitable for most players that are looking for a good time.
As for poker, this is easily the most popular game at Casino de Taoro. On the weekends especially, the tables are usually packed. This is mainly due to the weekly no-limit Texas Hold’em tournaments that are held that have a buy-in of €35. At all other times, these tables are used for low-limit cash games.
There is a generous selection of slot machines at Casino de Taoro and these are mostly modern video slots. You will not find any progressive jackpots here but the slots are still quite lucrative despite being fairly low limits. These limits are understandable considering the target market being that of tourists rather than more regular gamblers.
Slots are popular here with players that are inexperienced gamblers that do not understand how to play table games.
As there is no on-site hotel Casino de Taoro, you will have to use one of many that you can find in and around the Lago Martiánez. You have plenty of choices such as the Sol Costa Atlantis and the H10 Tenerife Playa which both offer rooms starting at around $100 per night. Cheaper options include the Catalonia Las Vegas and Checkin Concordia Playa which will both offer rooms starting at around $60 per night.
The Isla del Lago is the restaurant inside this casino and during its opening hours of between 12 PM to 12:30 AM, you will be able to enjoy local cuisine as well as the more popular international dishes. Wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages will also be available here.
Other options you will have is the La Taberna Del Lago and the Compostelana Avenida restaurants that are both located very close to the Casino de Taoro. The latter serves up pizza and other types of Italian food while the former will serve up paella, fresh fish salads and other delicious meals.
