Located in the center of Dublin, Colossus Casino Club is one of the oldest casinos operating in Ireland today. The property is privately owned and they do not have any other nearby casinos or dining and accommodation facilities.
It won’t take you long to get to the casino as a tourist, since Dublin Airport is only about an 8 mile drive away – which will take you approximately 30 minutes via car. You can either rent a car or take one of the various public transport options. The taxi or bus will take you the closest to the casino and are frequently available, but the train is the cheapest and quickest option.
Like many of the other casino clubs in Ireland, you will need to become a member in order to play at Collosus. It is a relatively quick process that is free and can be done upon arrival. You will, however, be required to provide valid proof of identification and be over the age of 18.
The dress code at Colossus Casino is casual, and no hats are allowed to be worn inside the casino.
Colossus Casino does not have a very large gaming floor, but it does have a long and rich history. It was one of the first casinos to open in Ireland, and one of the few to have remained open. The design and layout are typical for an Irish casino, with a small gaming area made up of various electronic machines and table games.
The casino is popular so it can get quite busy at times, especially on weekends. The casino is open every day of the week from 8 PM to 8 AM, and the good service paired with a variety of games ensures that gamblers keep coming back. Poker players are attracted to Colossus Casino Club because they host various tournaments and cash-only events in their separate poker room – which is located upstairs from the main gaming hall.
There is a player reward program available at Colossus, which entitles gamblers to rewards for gambling. Other noteworthy aspects include complimentary food and drink served at their bar & kitchen and
if you are a sports fan, you will be able to enjoy the game on one of their many TVs throughout the casino.
Unfortunately for VIPs, there are no high limit games at the casino, with the exception of their cash-only poker tournaments and events which can raise a considerable pot.
Colossus Casino Club has divided their table games into the main gaming hall and the poker room. The main gaming hall features three games, while the poker room is only used for poker tournaments and cash-only poker events.
The most popular table in the main hall is the roulette table. American Roulette is played, which allows gamblers to benefit (and risk) from the double zero bet.
The two other tables in the main hall are card games. There is standard blackjack on offer with average betting options available. The other card game is Brit Brag Poker (a variation of Three Card) which can be enjoyed without needing to wait for a tournament or poker event.
The casino does not have many modern gambling upgrades and does not offer any Electronic Roulette or tablet betting devices.
Colossus Casino Club does not have accommodation available for clientele, but it is within walking distance from many of Dublin’s hotels and guesthouses. Some of the options closest to the casino are:
The Camden Hotel – This hotel is the nearest to the casino and rooms usually start at $175 per night.
O’Callaghan Stephen’s Green Hotel – The most expensive of the three options, rooms at the Green Hotel start at $200 per night. It is within walking distance from the casino.
Jackson Court Hotel – The most economic option listen, Jackson Court Hotel rooms start at $150 per night but the quality and service make it worthwhile considering.
Each of these accommodation options come recommended by previous guests. There are plenty of other options available throughout Dublin and it all depends on your budget and how far you are willing to travel to get to the casino.
