Hotel Sierra is a privately owned resort casino located in Costa Rica that is tucked between dense jungles, a Lagoon and a beach. The result is a tropical paradise full of natural splendor. The Golfito National Wildlife Refuge engulfs Hotel Sierra Resort and there are daily tours available. The marina and Golfito Bay are also located nearby where you can expect to find watersports and other fun water-based activities.
There are two recommended ways to get to Hotel Sierra (by air and by land) but you will first have to fly into the country via one of the major airlines. If you choose to travel by airplace then you must contact the SANSA flight company who has flights 3 times a day between Alajuela International Airport and the Golfito Airport which is within walking distance from Hotel Sierra Resort.
If you choose to travel by land then there are two options. The first is to take a bus from San Jose which means you will fly into the country via Juan Santamaria International airport. The second option is to rent a car from Alajuela International Airport and drive approximately 5-7 hours to get to Hotel Sierra Resort.
The dress code for the casino is semi-formal and you will be asked to leave if you do not stick to this attire or if you are under the legal gambling age which is 21 years of age.
There is a small casino with about 1,500 square feet of gaming space in Hotel Sierra. This space only features slot machines, and unfortunately there are no table games available. The casino operates daily between the hours of 11 AM and 4 AM.
Hotel Sierra’s casino still provides a good atmosphere thanks to its bar and complimentary drinks for all active players on the slots. It was not built to accommodate serious gamblers, but rather works as an area where guests can meet up and socialize as well as enjoy one of the many slots.
There are 40 slot machines in this casino which are made up of video reel and classic slots. There is also one video poker machine. None of the slot machines have progressive jackpots, and the slot machines accept coin denominations of $0.10, $0.25, $0.50, $2 or $5.
The video poker machine allows you to play a variety of different poker games and it accepts coin denominations of $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20.
Hotel Sierra Resort is known for its lush tropical garden and is designed to be very open as to expose you to nature as much as possible. The hotel has a pool, bar, casino, restaurants, and a conference hall with a 70-seat capacity. If you park your car here, you will be pleased to know there is a 24-hour surveillance watchtower that protects the parking lot.

The Hotel Sierra Resort has a couple of restaurants that you should try if you are staying there. The main restaurant does not have a name but it can seat up to 95 people in a comfortable environment that is very exposed to nature but still provides shelter. They serve food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
You will need to be semi-formally dressed for dinner. Rancho Bar located on the north side of the bar is a great place for chilling, sipping on a handmade specialty cocktail or enjoy a meal at the grill.
