Located in Argentina’s Mendoza Province, thousands of miles from Las Vegas, Casino Club San Rafael does have one thing in common with the gambling mecca of the world; it’s situated in a desert. Unlike Las Vegas, however, the city of San Rafael only has one casino. It is one of over 20 casinos in Argentina owned by Casino Club S.A.

San Rafael is the 2nd largest city in Mendoza Province and is situated near the Argentinian border with Chile, which is on the other side of the Andes mountain range. This region is well-known for its wine production, and the rivers that flow through it are famous for white water rafting. The closest airport to Casino Club San Rafael is about 3.5 hours away by bus or rental car. The domestic airport in Mendoza can easily be reached from neighboring countries.

Casino Club San Rafael sits inside of a rectangular, single-story building. It features a bold entrance that is lit up and has a large sign that says “Casino”. The inside of the casino is decorated very cheerfully. The operating hours at Casino Club San Rafael is open Sunday-Thursday from 10 AM to 5 AM and on Friday-Saturday it stays open until 5.30 a.m.

The slot machines are separated from the main table game pit by a circle of seats where players can enjoy a drink at the casino bar. This casino has relatively high betting limits and they have established their willingness to accommodate big players.

The casino hosts weekly poker tournaments where the cash prizes have been known to exceed $25,000 and it attracts a lot of the locals to the casino.

Trotamundos Hostel is within walking distance of the casino and is the closest option to the casino. The cost per night for a standard room at the hostel is about $40.

Hotel Almería is a low-cost option that is situated directly behind the casino. The 12 rooms are very simple with one double bed in each one. Each room features flat screen televisions and free WiFi. A room in this hotel costs approximately $30 per night.

Vecchia Terra Hotel is one of the more upscale hotels in the area, especially when compared to the previously mentioned options. A normal 2-person room will cost roughly $100 per night.

Pagoda is a simple restaurant with an all you can eat menu. All the food is authentic and locally sourced.

La Gringa is a laidback restaurant that serves Argentinian food a la carte and is great for families.

Kummel is a modern restaurant that serves gourmet Argentinian food in a more upscale and elegant environment.
