America’s Card Room was founded in 2001 and though ownership has changed hands a few times, it is still touted as being one of the best US-serving poker rooms on the web. Right off the bat, something confusing about this site is the “.eu” web address. With “America” in its name, you might be confused as to why this poker site seems to be based out of Europe. The reason for this is due to the fact that in 2011, after Black Friday in the United States, the ownership of ACR changed hands and so too did the site’s domain. Regardless of this, the site is still able to offer its services to players from the United States.
As far as what the site looks like and how it is organized, you will find that both are fairly standard for what you will find from most poker rooms. ACR hosts a black and red theme with a banner across the top of the homepage which makes navigating to the site’s inner pages a breeze. There is nothing that stands out about the site as being overly unique or attractive, but in the same breath this is not a drawback by any stretch of the imagination.
America’s Card Room Software
ACR is part of the Winning Poker Network, or WPN. If we turned back the clocks a few years, you would find yourself questioning if ACR and other WPN skins were legitimate sites. The poker client was so glitchy and unreliable that it often became extremely frustrating to play even one table at a time. If you were a multi-table type of player, you might as well have taken your money elsewhere.
In recent years, however, the software supporting the poker games improved dramatically. Now, you will find that any and all ACR games run smoothly and present players with few problems. So, if you do come across complaints with regard to the software—as we did during our research—be sure to check when that complaint was filed, because many of them are out of date and not representative of what you will find at ACR today.
America’s Card Room Game Selection
The selection of games you will find at America’s Card Room is about in line with what people have come to expect from a competent poker site. Naturally, the most heavily-trafficked game is No Limit Texas Hold’em. Being the most popular poker variant that exists, this should come as no surprise. No matter if you are an experience, high-stakes player, or a new player who is looking to get a start at the micro-stakes tables, there is something for everyone. What’s more, the site traffic is such that you will be able to find games at any stake level at just about any time of day. On the top of every page you navigate to at ACR, you will see a tally of the total number of people currently on the site. At the time of this piece’s writing, there were over 3,000 people on the site.
In addition to no limit hold’em, you will find pot limit and fixed limit versions of the game too. What’s more, there are Omaha and Stud games available to. Pot Limit Omaha is a popular game, but you will find that most fixed-limit games feature low traffic at most times of the day. This is likely due to the fact that fixed-limit games are, quite honestly, not that popular.
America’s Card Room Tournaments
ACR really loves their tournaments, and they make no bones about promoting this love. Whether it be massive tournaments with large guaranteed prize pools or the satellites that allow you to access these larger tournaments at a fraction of the buy-in price, there is always something for you to play.
Sit and Go tournaments, or SnGs, are also run on a daily basis. The “online tournaments” page does well to not only promote the different tournaments available, but also to explain the different structures of those tournaments. On top of all of this, ACR features and hosts tournaments that take place at land-based casino. This may be of little use to the online player, but does well to drive home the point that ACR is a legitimate, trustworthy poker site.
Bonuses and Promotions at America’s Card Room
An aspect of ACR that we absolutely love is the wide array of bonuses, promotions, and free play on offer at any given point in time. For new players, the deal is especially attractive. Not only will your first deposit be matched 100% up to $1,000, but you will also be eligible to participate in a free tournament set aside specifically for new players. On top of all that, you will be able to play jackpot poker for the first 20 days which your account is active. This gives you the chance to strike it big without having to risk any of your own money.
In addition to these bonuses offered to new players, returning players will find a host of events and promotions that they can take advantage of.
Many players are curious to find out whether a site has a rakeback program or not, and you can rest-assured knowing that ACR does. Officially, players are able to earn 27% rakeback weekly, and the rake will be credited directly to a player’s bankroll.
There is also an elaborate, rewarding VIP program at ACR as well, but if you choose to be part of the VIP program you are going to be forced to forego any and all rakeback benefits. Basically, if you choose to receive rakeback you will not be eligible for the Elite VIP program, and vice versa. As for which is better—the rakeback or VIP program—that all depends upon how much you plan on playing on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Banking Options at America’s Card Room
As for withdrawals and deposits at ACR, we are happy to say that there are plenty of options for both. As for deposits, the following are available to you: credit/debit cards, Western Union, Moneygram, Bitcoin, Neteller, Skrill, and Instadebit.
For withdrawals, you have the following options: check, Bitcoin, debit card**
**The debit card is provided by ACR and works exactly like the debit card you have in your wallet. You will need to pay a one-time fee of $40 to receive the card and an additional $5/month every month, but it does make receiving your winnings quite easily. Once you receive the card, any and all future winnings will be loaded directly to your received debit card. The fee for each withdrawal is $3. Between the $5/month and $3/transaction fees you might think that staying away from the debit card is a good idea, but this method is truly the fastest way by which players can receive their money.
As far as poker sites are concerned, there are few with a better offering than what ACR boasts. Not only is site traffic plentiful, games are available across a wide range of stake levels. Right then and there that is enough to keep most players satisfied, but once you add into the mix the rakeback and VIP programs along with the other promotions and bonuses, the overall prospect of ACR is boosted significantly. Add to all of this the fact that mobile gaming is an option, and there are few US-serving poker rooms that can shine a light to what ACR offers. All told, ACR is one of the best online poker sites out there currently and seems to be improving all the time.
