Gold Coast is a locals casino located on Flamingo Road about one mile west of the Las Vegas Strip. It is owned by Boyd Gaming and the property opened on December 21, 1986. It was one of the first locals casino in Las Vegas. Today, after 30 years of operation, Gold Coast has a wide local following due to its competitive gaming. Tourists also enjoy it due to its affordable hotel pricing. It is a popular option among poker players when the World Series of Poker is in session across Valley View Road at the Rio as transportation for tourists is very quick and easy.
Casino at Gold Coast
There are over 1,000 slot and video poker machines populating the 87,000 square foot casino floor at Gold Coast. The best video poker games are Double Bonus Deuces Wild, No So Ugly Deuces and full pay Jacks or Better, but not Double Joker poker. All are on one-play machines. Some of the Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild games are also available in Multi Strike machines. While none of these games return over 100%, there are plenty of point multiplier days through the BConnected Card that improve the return.
Blackjack at Gold Coast
Most of the blackjack games at Gold Coast are double deck. There are 15 of these tables spread across the main pit and high limit area. The limits are $5-$1,000. Players may double on any two cards in this game and after splitting. There are three $5-$500 six-deck blackjack tables that use continuous shuffle machines that offer these same rules. Double deck Super Fun 21 is available on two tables with limits of $5-$1,000.
Roulette and Craps
There are five tables of $5-$100 double zero roulette. Three craps tables spread $5-$2,000 limits with 3-4-5 odds.
Other Table Games & Sportsbook
Gold Coast spreads a large Asian games table pit are including a wide range of options available. There are 14 baccarat tables with $10-$5,000 limits. There are also five $10-$2,000 Pai Gow Poker tables here.
Asia Poker is also available with $10-$2,000 limits. This game is similar to Pai Gow except that there is also a one card hand at the top. Players must beat the dealer on all three hands to win the bet. Winning two is a push. Winning one is a loss.
There is a Boyd Gaming sports book just off of the casino floor. A bingo room is also offered at Gold Coast.
Gold Coast Players Card
Gold Coast uses the BConnected players card, which is the same one used at all Boyd Gaming properties. BConnected gives players one point for every penny wagered. Players may convert points at a rate of 600 for $1 which can be used on casino food and services or 900 for $1 in free slot play. Sapphire players earn points 2x faster, while Emerald players earn points 3x faster. Sapphire is earned after 30,000 annual points, while 250,000 awards a player Emerald Status. Emerald players also receive private gated parking, preferred valet service and have all resort fees waived.
Hotel at Gold Coast
The basic rooms at Gold Coast run about 350 square feet. This does not make it an overly “luxurious” option, but rather a more economical one. They are available in one king or two double beds. Rates start at $35 per night during the week and $59 on weekends, making it one of the most cost efficient options in the area. There is a $13 per night resort fee, however. There are also one and two bedroom executive suites. Neither may be reserved by the public. These suites are only available to VIP players.
Dining and Bars at Gold Coast
The Cortez Room is the fine dining option at Gold Coast. It offers steak and seafood in an elegant setting with reasonable prices. There are two options for Asian cuisine. Ping Pang Pong is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Las Vegas. The prices are more of a locals restaurant than one in a casino. The Noodle Exchange is a noodle bar. There is also a buffet and a TGI Friday’s.
The sports bar offers typical tavern fare. There is also a Subway and a coffee shop. Aside from dining, there are two casino bars at Gold Coast. Both of these options offer video poker.
Gold Coast Location & Features
Gold Coast is located at the northwest corner of Flamingo Road and Valley View Road. It is across the street from Rio and Palms and offers a wide array of transportation options connecting it to the surrounding area. It is about one mile west of the Las Vegas Strip across I-15 from the resort corridor.
Gold Coast doesn’t have too many extravagent features. One of the biggest draws is the fact that it is home to a bowling alley. The Gold Coast also offers a few small acts in its showroom.
